A Spring Baby Shower - Tips for Hosting a Shower in the Spring

Spring is in the air! When the leaves are budding and the flowers are in bloom, you know that the new season has started in earnest. Why not take the season itself as the inspiration for a baby shower? Definitely, a Spring baby shower will be a beautiful one.

Send a breath of fresh air with beautiful invitations. Why not have invitations with pretty pressed Spring flowers on them? Or do the “green” thing and choose invitations that use handmade or recycled paper with embedded flower seeds instead. Your guests can plant the invitations as a celebration of a new life.

Plan out a flowery, sweet theme for your Spring baby shower. Choose a color scheme that is light and pretty. Why not have a traditional color scheme of pastels, like rose, lavender, and butter yellow? A classic combination for a boy would be baby blue, mint green, and ivory. If you're not at all traditional, you could opt for a Tiffany blue, chocolate, and cream combination.

The more modern mama would certainly appreciate the last combination of colors. Put together an utterly delicious scheme with gauzy fabrics that will fit the light and sweet theme to a “T.” Make a change by not relying on the tired balloons and streamers for this celebration. Instead, you can make or order green leaf garlands from your local florist to decorate the windows and the doorways. Accent the garlands with posies of hydrangeas, chocolate cosmos, and ivory roses or ranunculus. Make one of the garlands into a baby “banner” by suspending letters cut out of aqua and white checks onto a garland. If you wish, finish off the garlands with strings of clear fairy lights.

Whether you're holding this celebration inside or out, string ivory, brown, and aqua Chinese paper lanterns all around. If you have the baby shower outside, hang them in the trees with ribbons attached to the underside as streamers. Decorate the back of each chair with another posy and finish it off with a satin ribbon bow in any of the chosen colors.

Keep to this delicious theme by blanketing the tables with an undercloth of cream cotton sateen and a topper of cream and Tiffany blue damask. Set all the places in heavy creamware and ornate silver and set a small posy of hydrangeas, ranunculus and cosmos at each place in tiny silver julep glasses. Top each plate with a flourish of damask napkin tied with a deep chocolate ribbon and accented with a sprig of hydrangea.

Decorate the food table in the same way. Use the same cotton sateen and damask fabrics to create a vision of blue and ivory. As a centerpiece, group together three lollipop topiaries set in cream-painted flower pots made of hydrangea heads, ranunculus blossoms, and cosmos accented with white baby's breath and airy Victoria ferns. Finish off the arrangement with a satin ribbon in Tiffany blue.

Choose a Spring-inspired menu as well, focused on Spring vegetables, maybe serving a simple lemon pasta with asparagus heads and baby shrimps with a light white wine or white grape juice garnished with mixed berries.

Don't forget the baby shower favors! Have something that embodies Spring like a beautiful soap rose or white Jordan almonds are only two of the limitless favors that you can give.

Your imagination is the only thing that can limit you from having the most beautiful Spring baby shower ever.
