Let the Good Times Roll with a Mardi Gras Baby Shower!

What better way to celebrate a new baby by hosting one of the greatest party themes of all – the Mardi Gras baby shower. Get everybody ready for some reveling at this wild baby shower.

Invite the revelers to the Mardi Gras baby shower with some well-thought out invitations. If you can, send a soft felt mask with the invitations to let them know they need to be wearing one to join the fun. A string of Mardi Gras beads would do, too. It would be more fun if the guests came in costumes, too.

Mardi Gras colors are purple, green, and gold so it would be easy to decorate your party place in these colors. Cut out swirls from metallic paper and hang them from your ceiling with a sparkly bead at the end to help it keep its shape. Have large bunches of balloons all over and metallic streamers as well. Strings of white fairy lights definitely add to the party mood so be generous when stringing them around the room. Finally, have Zydeco and New Orleans jazz playing in the background so you feel you're already down on the bayou.

Throw on a different colored tablecloth for each table and mix up the colors of the tableware, too. Tie the utensils together with the napkins using gold, green, and purple curling ribbons. For the centerpiece, fill a tall clear vase with Mardi Gras beads and stick in a decadent feather mask. Drape a few Mardi Gras leis around and you're all ready to have fun!

Go all out when decorating the food table. Throw on a gold tablecloth and have lots of tea lights around to add even more sparkle. Sprinkle the table with multicolored sequins and serve the dishes on sparkly crystal platters. For a really eye-catching centerpiece, make a martini bouquet with an oversized martini glass (or three) filled with a dome of green, purple, and gold flowers and topped with a real lime wedge. Nothing says “PARTY!” More than that.

And the food! Nothing beats a gumbo with rice or a jambalaya here. Served up with some Bananas Foster for dessert, you will definitely have people begging for more.

Of course a cake is in order and the King Cake is it! This spicy, sweet cake is topped with a creamy sugar glaze and sprinkled with colored sugars in gold, green, and purple. For the Mardi Gras baby shower, nothing else will do. Don't forget to look for the baby!

A terrific game in the Jeopardy style is Mardi Gras and New Orleans trivia. The winner of the trivia game gets a whole bag of chocolate doubloons. If your guests have come in costume, hand out awards for the most creative, most spirited, or most original costume. You can definitely stretch out the categories here.

As for the favors, a cooling gel eye mask is the best thing to help everyone catch up with the beauty sleep afterward. Partner that with some refreshing eye gel and a shimmery pink lip gloss, and everyone will feel like a Mardi Gras queen the next day.
