Relive Your Growing Up Years with a Disney Baby Shower

The Disney baby shower gives rise to hundreds of ideas that you can adapt to your own particular baby shower. Everyone has a favorite Disney Character, cartoon, or movie that can be used. Choose among your favorites or go with the most popular one of the moment – Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen from the latest movie, “The Princess and the Frog.”

Let's say you want to have the Disney baby shower based on your favorite Disney movie, “101 Dalmatians.” That calls for a black and white color scheme with maybe red as an accent color. There are many well-designed invitations readily available in party supply stores that feature 101 Dalmatians and it would save you a lot of time and effort to just use those instead.

The party room is simply decorated with white, black, and red balloons. There are polka-dotted balloons available but they may be a little difficult to find. You could find a dog's pawprint stamp and use that to decorate some of the white and red balloons. Finish off the room with streamers in the same three colors.

Decorate the eating area for your Disney baby shower with white and black polka-dotted tablecloths. Use plain red tableware and napkins, stamped with the pawprint, as an accent and tie up your cutlery in the napkin using a black and white dotted ribbon. Set a (new!) dog dish in the center of each table and fill it with chips and veggie sticks and nestle a bowl of dip in the middle. Garnish the dip with a sweet red pepper dice. If you like, set the dish on a larger bowl and fill up the area around it with red gerberas or carnations.

Have a large dalmatian plush toy as the highlight of your buffet table and have it surrounded with more red flowers and have three red balloons floating above it, attached to the whole arrangement with black and white ribbons. Have the 101 Dalmatians figurines playing around your food platters, which would be in red, since most of the food is in black and white.

You could have checkerboard sandwiches made with pumpernickel and white bread, black and white bean salad tossed with diced tomatoes and dressed with vinaigrette, and grilled sausages and sweet red peppers dressed in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Dessert would be chocolate chip or cookies and cream ice cream served with chocolate chip or marbled cake and cherry pie filling as a topping. Serve this with choices of black and white tea, black cherry and white grape juice, or cola and a clear soda.

Of course a cake is needed, with perhaps one layer being fudge chocolate with vanilla cream filling and the other vanilla sponge cake with a chocolate pudding filling. Top the cake with pure white frosting and a little group of dalmatians. Ring the dalmatians with cinnamon red-hots to finish.

Adapt a scene in the movie called the “Twilight Bark” as a game for the Disney baby shower. Divide the guests into two teams and have the first person in the team memorize a short sentence and whisper it to the next person in line. The sentence is relayed to the end of the line in this manner. The team whose sentence is not garbled by the time it reaches the end of the line is the winner.

For the favors, a small red pouch may be filled with dark and white chocolates, a small bag of “dog biscuits” (chocolate chip cookies cut out in bone form) and a small piece of black and white costume jewelry like a bracelet or necklace.
