Baby Shower Tableware

Once you pick out your baby shower theme, you will have to buy all sorts of tableware. This includes forks, knives, spoons, plates, napkins, and tablecloths. All of these items are important to wrap up your theme. You will want to be able to decorate each guest table so that each guest has all of the necessary tableware items. The good thing about tableware is that you can easily find it in many different stores.

Before you can buy tableware, you need to have a rough idea as to how many guests will be attending your baby shower. You will also want to keep your budget in mind. If you have 50 guests, you will want to buy extra plates, napkins, and utensils, in case more people come, or in case people need to use more than one.

When it comes to forks, knives, spoons, and other utensils, the best thing to do is pick a color out of your theme, and buy utensils in this color. If you have an animal theme, or a theme that has many different colors, you can pick one solid color, or you can choose two or three different colors to use. If you are doing a baby carriage theme or just a baby theme, pick out a color that matches your baby’s sex, if it is known. Pastel blue for a boy and pastel pink for a girl make great utensil colors. Make sure that all of your utensils are plastic and can be thrown away, as it is a hassle to keep track of utensils that you want to keep.

For plates as well as napkins, you can do solid colors, or go to your local party store and buy plates that match your theme. If you decided your theme on one you saw in a store, you can just purchase the plates that go along with it. If you can’t find matching plates, pick out a solid color in your theme and find plates. Usually paper plates work best, but plastic plates are also great, in case you plan to serve food that may leak through paper plates. The napkins can also match your theme, or can be solid. You can also do half and half, meaning half of your themed napkins and half solid napkins.

The tablecloths you pick will more than likely be a solid color. A normal white tablecloth will work fine if you don’t want to use colored ones. You can find matching tablecloths that go along with a color in your theme at a party store as well. If you find a matching themed tablecloth, try to use that one on the table that the mom-to-be will be sitting at. This way her table stands out the most. Plastic tablecloths are the best, as they are easy to wipe off in case of a spill, and can easily be used again.

Picking out tableware for your baby shower is easy. All it takes is a trip to your local party store, and you will definitely find what you need.
